The Condensed Life History of Narcissa Malfoy:

Narcissa Malfoy spent most of her childhood in the shadows of her elder sisters. Lacking the inherent qualities that made Bella the perfect Black and missing the brightness with which Rommie dazzled the world, she learned to fold her hands in her lap and hold her head high while smiling coldly at her role in the world. Narcissa first met Lucius Malfoy when she was four at which time, he pulled her hair by way of introduction. Six years later, she replayed the insult by slapping him at her sorting feast and the two spent their time at Hogwarts waging war upon each other.

The year Narcissa graduated from hogwarts, Sirius ran away from home, Rommie married a muggle, and Regulus ran wild. Bella, who had been busy making eyes at Rodolphus Lestrange and Lucius Malfoy alternately, found herself snubbed by Lucius who suddenly discovered that he rather liked Narcissa. Bella promptly married Lestrange while Lucius and Narcissa danced around each other for another year and a month.

The Young couple was deliriously happy together despite an inability to conceive and paid almost no attention to the rest of the world. Unfortunately, reality soon caught up to the young couple and they found themselves facing a precarious political situation.  Eventually, Narcissa gave Lucius her silent permission to the join the side most likely to guarantee their position.

In return, Voldemort introduced the couple to a half-blood by the name of Severus Snape who became somewhat enamored of the Malfoy's while brewing Narcissa a fertility potion.

Twenty months later Voldemort fell to a boy not much older than Draco, and while Narcissa bled out the remains of her second child in a miscarriage, her husband stood trial for treason.

Impact of War

Narcissa Malfoy loves her son more than anything in the world. She would do anything, betray anyone, go anywhere if it guaranteed his safety. In the weeks before Voldemort fell Narcissa managed to move both her son and herself out of harms way, navigating a snake den of Death Eaters with only the help of Sevrus Snape. At last she faked her death so that her life could not be used against Draco and slipped them both out of harms way.

Living in complete and utter isolation, Narcissa rarely receives letters from her son or Snape and thus does not know what is transpiring in the world outside. She is beginning to suspect that she is going mad and itching to break out of her exile

Current Living Situation:

For both Draco's sake and her own, it is imperative that Narcissa remain dead to the world. Intent upon hiding someplace where no one would find her, she retreated to St. Kilda where, in centuries past, the Malfoys used to banish their squib children and adulterous wives.

On the Island, there is an enchanted (though now abandoned) village hidden from Muggle eyes surrounding a cement and straw imitation of the manor. Surrounded by a forest that is perpetually under a fog it is a dreary place to live indeed. The village and the manor is maintained by an army of efficiently invisible (and quite possibly ageless) house elves.

Unbeknownst to Narcissa, the village is under more than one enchantment and time, which she has lost track of, doesn't flow quite the way she remembers.

Descriptive Personality:

Raised to be a Black in all senses of the word, Narcissa Malfoy never ttook a visible role in the games of family and political power.  Much further sighted than anyone has ever credited her for, she stood back and only interfered with her husbands work when she saw folly he could not. First and foremost in her life is her son and then her husband. Family matters so much to her that Narcissa is unaware of blinding herself to faults in those she loves.

She is strong without knowing her own strength and buries her personality beneath training and an entirely Victorian propriety. It is only when desperate, only when forced, that her personality pushes itself out of her self imposed shell.

Like her son, Narcissa loves literature and poetry. Secretly, she also harbors a passion for muggle opera.

Allegiance and Influences:

During the first war, Narcissa sided with Tom Riddle because her family stood to gain the most from it.  Far more flexible in thought than her husband, Narcissa believes in the continuation of pureblood lines not as a matter of blood but as a matter of culture and self preservation. Family history has taught her that a scared muggle is a dangerous muggle and that all muggles are Prone to fear.

The second time around however, Voldemort returned mad. He drew away her husband and placed her son in danger. For her own sake, she was willing to betray him and possibly swallow neutrality.

But now, for the sake of both herself and her son she is willing to side with whoever it takes to stand her mad little world back on its feet.
